Canadian Networking Conference
Networking '93
June 15-17, 1993
McGill University
Montreal, Quebec
Call for Papers
The seventh annual Canadian Networking Conference will be held at
McGill University in Montreal on June 15-17, 1993. Networking '93
is held under the auspices of the CA*net, CANARIE Associates,
NetNorth and CDNnet, and the regional networks across Canada.
The Program Committee for Net'93 is seeking contributed papers
for this year's conference. The theme of the conference is
NETWORK APPLICATIONS -- WHAT'S NEXT?
Papers relating to the theme or topics of practical interest to
the participants will be considered including:
o New and interesting network-related applications software
o Network management tools and techniques
o The Network as a tool - how networks enable new capabilities
(both within organizations and over wide geographic areas
o User experience with commercial and home-grown products
o Multimedia in a networked environment
o Library applications and library evolution
o Networking in specialized areas. Examples include
medicine and astrophysics.
The program will also include papers reporting on networking
developments at the national and regional level within Canada
as well as internationally.
In late November 1992, CANARIE Associates was formed. As you may
know, CANARIE is a initiative sponsored by Industry, Science and
Technology Canada which, when implemented, will be funding a number
of network related areas including a major upgrade in CA*net
bandwidth. We expect much of Networking '93 to focus on how
these changes will effect networking in Canada and how we can
capitalize on them.
Board meetings for a number of organizations (CA*net, NetNorth)
will be held on Monday, June 14th.
Prospective contributors should provide the following by the
dates specified.
March 1 Notify the program committee of intent to
contribute a paper stating the title or
topic.
March 19 Submit a half to one page abstract of the
proposed paper. Please include length of
presentation in minutes plus any audio/visual
aids required.
The above should be sent via e-mail to: NET93PC@McGill.CA
The program committee will select papers for presentation at the
conference by April 3, 1993.
Conference proceedings will be printed prior to the conference to
be available to participants at registration. A complete copy of
the presentation including any desired hand-outs must be
submitted by May 15, 1993. Materials for the proceedings may be
submitted in any of the following formats.
