In article <49jghi$nu2@morgoth.sfu.ca>, athomas@sfu.ca says: > >I am living in an apartment and recently our manager was found >to be breaking into appartments and stealing stuff. He has >since been fired and is under investigation by the Burnaby >R.C.M.P. Now the company that he worked for (the co. that owns >the building) has made efforts to try and secure the building >against him, apparently he is still trying to get into the >building. > >This is where my problem starts. The company decided to change >all of the exterior locks. Which is fine, but they only gave >one day notice of the lock change. It was scheduled to be done >on a week day when most people are at work or school. I was >away from the building early that morning and didn't get home >until late, needless to say I was locked out! The maintenance >guy was out from his apartment and I had no way of getting into >the building. I ended up waiting for one hour until someone >else came to get into the building. > >Next, yesterday (tuesday nov 28) they decided to change all of >the locks on the suites themselves. Now they did give us >notice of this on saturday, but the memo said "give us your key >and we will change the locks and you can pick up your new keys. > >I DIDN'T give them my keys and they went and changed my locks >anyways. Again I was locked out of my apartment and all this >for $700 a month! > >My question is this, >Do I have any kind of recourse with this kind of malarky? >They have seriously inconvenienced me on two occassions and I >can do nothing about it.... or can I? Or maybe I am just a >little too pissed off right now and I will feel better about it >later? > >If you have any info that would help it would be appreciated, >comments either way are also welcome. > >Cheers! > >Aaron > I think it's great that they're being responsible and changing the locks very quickly to protect everyone's posessions from the ex-manager. Sure, it's a pain in the butt, but I'm sure it's worth the risk of taking one's time and having the ex-manager causing damage.
