Given that wimsey is the grand-daddy of news servers, I'd suggest
that their active file would be a good start. They have the following
groups. I've appended suggested descriptions.

bc.bcnet	Announcements and discussion regarding the provider BCNet.
bc.general	Topics relating to BC that don't fit into other groups.
bc.news.stats	Automated posts of news volume statistics.
bc.rcbc [This should be rmgrouped, I gather.]
bc.unix Discussion of the UNIX operating system.
bc.weather	Automated posts of Environment Canada weather reports.
bc.cycling	Discussion relating to bicycling in BC.
bc.politics	Discussion relating to politics in BC.
bc.jobs Postings of jobs in BC.

I think it would be very good to emphasise that primarially political
discussions belong in bc.politics, not bc.general.

I'd still like to see a bc.transport for the discussion of
transportation- related issues. This would cover everything,
including airports, not just serve as public complaint forum for
BC Transit users, as some people seemed to think. :-) There's
certainly the volume of transport-related discussion in van.general
and bc.general to justify this.

I'd also suggest the FAQ discusses the van.* groups. These are the ones
that wimsey carries, again with my suggestions for descriptions.

van.forsale	Postings of items for sale by private individuals.
van.general	Topics relating to vancouver that don't fit in other groups.
van.jobs	Postings of jobs in Vancouver.
van.vpcus.announce	[I'll leave these to the vpcus people.]
van.vpcus.general
van.vpcus.sigs.internet
van.vpcus.sigs.os2
