If the doctor bills as a member of a medium to large clinic then I think
2% is a reasonable figure, if he's billing as a single practictioner
( ie less $ volume/year ) he could be paying 4% or more.

I have heard that the doctors in Nanaimo who are opting out have
calculated that they are losing significantly more than 2% now to clients
who give phoney or expired medical plan numbers ( then when the medical
plan refuses to pay the claim they're stuck ). Presumably the credit card
system will use on-line authorization and once the CCC accepts the charge
collection will not be the doctor's problem.
