You may also wish to consider the free 386BSD release that was based
on the Net 2 tape, and Linux, a copylefted Posix compatible system,
also free.

You can find further information on these systems in comp.os.linux
and comp.unix.bsd (?).

I currently run Linux v0.96a patch level 1 on a 386/25 with a 387
copro, in 64Mb of disk space, and have the following software running:
- gcc & gpp 2.1
- gas, gawk, bison
- bash, gnu emacs 18.58
- groff, joe, elvis
- X11R5 with X386 v1.2
- full kernel sources
- gnu file utils, shell utils, text utils

I am in the process of porting Radiance 2.0 - I have it 90% running now
(I have to find out why gensky & ximage gets a segmentation fault)

I like Linux, but if you need networking support take a look at BSD.
If you need X11, look at Linux.

If you don't need X11, seriously consider Coherent 4.0 from Mark Williams-
good documentation, excellent support, low price (see comp.os.coherent)
