The latest version of gnu emacs, 18.58, which was released on Feb 18,
1992 is available for anonymous ftp from cs.ubc.ca. The file is
pub/archive/gnu/emacs-18.58.tar.Z . According to the release
announcement this version consists mostly of bug fixes, although support
for some new platforms has been added.

Please note that the Computer Science department is in the process of
rearranging its annonymous ftp archives so things may not be where
you expect them. Once the reorganization is completed things will
hopefully be easier to find. The above path represents the new location
where gnu software can be found.
