    Meeting Announcement

Topic:	Perl, The System Administrator's Secret Weapon

    Place: SFU Harbour Centre
		Board Room

    Time:	Wed, Sept. 18 @ 7:30pm

    More about the Topic:

I intend to cover the following although I am open to
suggestions. For example if a lot of people email me and say
that I should skip some elementary stuff and cover more advanced
     material.

	1. Perl Data Types: scalar, list, associative arrays, and references.

	2. Perl Syntax: do-while, for, foreach, functions.

	3. Some interesting Perl variables: %ENV, $|, ...

        4. Pattern matching.

        5. Modules and Object Oriented Perl.

        6. Perl 5 vrs Perl 4

I also encourage people to bring the questions and perhaps real
world problems they've had using Perl.

  Rob

NOTE:
   - We now have a confirmed room at SFU-HC.
   - I've been asked to shift the balance a little towards the advanced
and put in a section on porting Perl4 to Perl5.

   - I'm still willing to take suggestions but they'd better be quick.
