They are not talking of an approaching system they are talking of a prevailing zone of cool Low pressure which sits of the coast of BC giving the coast cool wet precipitation all year around. It is a maritime climate. It varies and is influenced by the El Nino. Think. A High pressure zone generally sits between the Rockies and the Manitoba border. This is produces a zone of dry hot summers and dry cold winters. It is a mid continent climate. It is also in the rain shadow of the Rockies which makes drier air. ****** Several forms of soils, often they operate at the same time. Mechanical creation. Is mechanical - eg. the process of erosion. Mechanical soils are created from rains, glaciers, and wind. The process of sedimentation is a form of soil deposition. such as found on river deltas, river valleys, tidal zones and swamps. Mechanical soils can be created by actual mechanical friction and chemical as it rains. Rain water is a very weak carbolic acid. Organic creation of soils. Decaying fecal and plant material. Animals poop and plants shed leaves or stalks into the soil. When a tree dies it rots or is returned to the soil by fire, fungal, insects or bacterial action. Swamps are important to this process. - humans contribute to this organic soil creation by the shedding of their skins creating dust in houses which the homeworker dusts out the door. Igneous creation of soils. The eruption of Mt. St Helen's provides an example of volcanic dust making soil. Stellar creation. Materials arrive on this planet daily from outer space.
