forecasts for coastal British Columbia issued by the Pacific weather
centre of Environment Canada at 10 AM PST Sunday 18 February 1996 for
today and Monday. 
The next scheduled forecast will be issued at 4 PM. 

Synopsis for coastal BC.
   A slow moving frontal band will give rain to most of the coast
today and Monday. Rain will be locally heavy in the south especially
along the west side of Vancouver Island and in the squamish area
where further rainfall amounts of up to 60 millimetres are expected
before the rain eases. A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for
the Whistler area and remains in effect for the howe Sound region.
The front is expected to finally sag southeastward out of the
province by Monday evening.
   In the north a low just off the coast will move inland today.
Showers circulating around the low will gradually depart the
district later today. A slow drying trend will develop behind the
low as somewhat drier but colder air moves in from the northwest. 

Freezing level..1200 metres north to 1800 metres south lowering 
to 600 metres far north to 1500 metres south Monday.
