Jeroen's reply is correct, but be aware that when you install the SP3
that comes with VS, you get an error saying that you should install Data
Objects first (which can be found on that same SP3 CDR)! Pretty badly
made, if you ask me... but if you do install the DO 2.0 from the SP3
CDR, the SP3 will install fine (and afterwards, the two MSDN lib
CDRs).... 

It should not provoke a crash at all and your friends may just have been
fooling around too much...
