The Laboratory of Mathematics and Operational Research (MATHRO) of the Faculte
Polytechnique de Mons and IMAGE (Institut Montois pour l'Aide a la Gestion des
Entreprises) invite you to participate to

                              BELGIUM / FUZZY

a workshop on Fuzzy Logic and Applications. 

This meeting will be held at the Faculte Polytechnique de 
Mons on April 24-25, 1997. It is one of the activities 
organized for commemorating the 160th anniversary of 
the foundation of the Faculte.


AIM OF THE WORKSHOP
*******************

The workshop is aimed at bringing together all 
researchers and practitionners working in Belgium (and 
the neighboring regions) and active in the fields of fuzzy 
logic and its applications in a broad sense. The topics 
covered by the conference include:

       Fuzzy control, Fuzzy image analysis, Classification, 
       Preference modeling,  Fuzzy decision making, 
       Fuzzy optimization, Fuzzy reasoning, Fuzzy data bases, 
       Fuzzy systems and hardware, Neural networks and 
       Genetic algorithms, Possibility theory, 
       Mathematical aspects of fuzzy sets, ... 

The above list is not exhaustive; applications are 
particularly welcome

STRUCTURE  OF  THE  CONFERENCE

Invited  presentations
----------------------

Six distinguished guest speakers have been invited to 
deliver a one-hour conference in plenary session. The 
topics of these conferences will be selected in order to 
cover a broad  variety of interests. The guest speakers will be:
Didier DUBOIS (IRIT, Toulouse, France), Roman SLOWINSKI 
(Technical University, Poznan, Poland), Hughes BERSINI (IRIDIA, ULB,
Belgium), Bernard DE BAETS ( RUG, Belgium), Raymond GOREZ (CESAME, UCL,
Belgium), Da RUAN (SCK-CEN, Mol, Belgium).  

Contributed papers
------------------

Contributed papers will be selected and presented in 
parallel sessions (two or three sessions simultaneously and 
half an hour for each paper).



CALL  FOR  PAPERS
*****************

 Authors are invited to submit abstracts of their proposed 
contribution, before February 15, 1997. They will be 
notified acceptance of their contribution before March 1, 
1997. 

 Abstracts (one page, A4 format) should be sent either by 
mail, in camera-ready form, or preferably by e-mail 
(in plain text) to the address:

   pirlot@mathro.fpms.ac.be

Abstracts should include name(s), address(es) and 
e-mail address(es) of the author(s) as well as a list of keywords.

 Twenty five minutes will be allocated to each 
presentation and five minutes for discussion. 
Requests for special equipment should be notified along with 
submission of the abstract.

 Authors who would like to have their contribution 
published in JORBEL, the Belgian Journal of Operational  
Research, are invited to send a full version of their paper 
before the conference.  Such papers will undergo the usual 
refereeing process.
