Extended Use of Breast Cancer Drug Is Suggested
The widely prescribed drug tamoxifen already plays a major role in
reducing the risk of death from breast cancer. But a new study
suggests that women should be taking the drug for twice as long as is
now customary, a finding that could upend the standard that has been
in place for about 15 years.

Childhood Cancer-Linked Mutations May Point Toward New Targets
The discovery of mutations in two related genes that are involved in

Existing drugs may help more breast cancer patients
More patients can benefit from highly effective breast cancer drugs
that are already available, according to DNA sequencing studies by
researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis
and other institutions.
The investigators found that some women with the HER2 negative subtype
may benefit from anti-HER2 drugs even though standard tests don't
indicate they are candidates for the drugs.
