When you change your password it requires you to use 4 out of 5 types of characters (small, caps, numbers, symbols, other), however, it does not check that this requirement is met within the first 8 characters-- all that the standard unix crypt() uses. In fact, this works on best's shell machines. When I changed my password today I tried 'qwerqwer', which triggers the lame password error. But using 'qwerqwer12!@Q' works. I immediately changed it by giving my Old Password: qwerqwer Shelly Wallace

Like the one that complains about a lame password, but if you type in three times, it'll accept it anyway. rone -- You can't write "obsolescent" without "NT". <rone@ennui.org>
