Hello, Many people know me from these newsgroups, notorius for asking questions that I should really be looking up in man pages or in a book. But let me tell you something important. I can see how technology can make the world a better place. With help from other people, we have already created a place where people can feel better about themselves, meet other nice people, and feel a sense of being important and part of a community. However, what we have online at CyberPark is only a very meager beginning. It can be so much more...we're only about 10% where we can be. But I cannot do it all alone (I can barely keep up with the 150+ email messages I receive every day). I am looking for people who can share this vision with us. I am looking for a few technical people who can take the ball and run with a project, small or large. I have a list of things that I'd like to get done, which will immediately add value for other visitors of CyberPark. Most of these needs, at the moment, require people who know perl and possibly C. If you'd like to share some of your time and energy and make a contribution to the world, to make it a better place to live (even if it APPEARS to be a small contribution), please read on. If this doesn't interest you, that's OK too, and you can just go on to the next newsgroup posting. It really is OK. Here are a few projects that I'd like to get started on: (1) A questionnaire/matching system. This will start out a web-personals kind of thing, but will grow into something MUCH larger...I want a system where people can truly meet the person of their dreams (and not just in a sexual way darnit!) (2) Better chat rooms. I want completely real-time interaction with other people. I don't want to hear that we can't do it with the current web technology. I want someone who will FIND A WAY, please. (3) I need a script which will allow people to edit their own home pages (Rockhouse Graphics donated a script which allows users to ADD web pages but they cannot edit them) -- I have to do it manually (aaaarrrrgggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!) (4) I'd like to put up some kind of discussion system (WebForum or another script I've been graciously given...)...but all this takes so much time to investigate, install, test, etc. (5) I need various adhoc scripts which automate things behind the scenes. Many of these are probably very easy (if I was a perl expert) but would help a great deal. I guess I need people I can just call on when I need quick and accurate help with technical issues (and not feel like I'm imposing on them). (6) I am also looking for corporate, organizational and individual sponsors. I'd really like to take the adult pictures offline -- they are truly not part of the overall mission and purpose of CyberPark (it's just a way to help pay for the $500/month connection fee, computer equipment, admin help, etc). I want to provide the very best free service to the peoples of the world, a large part of which is connecting people with each other through various online tools. But the CyberPark project is getting bigger and bigger all the time. I need help from people who care, who are self sufficient and who understand what we're trying to do at Cyberpark. Please, please do not reply unless you are truly interested and committed (email replies only, please). Also, if you do reply, I'll try to get back to you right away but please have patience because it might take me a few days. I'm getting very tired; 100+ hours a week for 9-10 months is starting to wear me down. If you'd like to find out more about CyberPark, please read the information at http://www.cyberpark.com/about.htm Or just go browse the site and enjoy the rides! Thank you for your time. The world needs you, your thoughts, your time and your energy. We only have four years ... but that's plenty of time if we ACT NOW.
