This is an update on the distance courses offered by the University of Manchester, UK. The next courses begin on 4 October 2010. Bioinformatics for Systems Biology (http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/modules/BIOL61820.html) and Introduction to software development in Java (http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/modules/bs6250.html) are already full, but there are still places available on : Introduction to Health Informatics Biocomputing Computational Systems Biology You can also book early for the courses running in March 2011. The March courses will include : Introduction to software development in Java Mathematics for metabolic modelling Introduction to BioHealth Informatics Introduction to microarray data analysis Databases and data modelling Object-oriented analysis and design with UML A course may be studied as an individual unit, or you can choose to register for a formal qualification. Those wishing to progress to the MSc will complete a supported research project. Examples of projects that have been published in a range of journals are listed here : http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/research/index.html For further information, please visit our programme website : http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/index.html If you have any questions, or would like advice on the options, please contact Heather.Vincent@manchester.ac.uk or the office for Advanced Professional Education (ape@cs.man.ac.uk).
