A group of students in my department are modelling a dairy farm.
They are interested in the decomposition process of manure, either put
directly on the grassland from the cattle, or sprayed on it after
storage in a silo. They are also interested in the breakdown of N
from fertilizer. In fact the role of N in manure is the main interest.

Has anybody ever modelled this process and who has any suggestions ?
