Hello,

After a week of discussion, and some confusion over whether the e-mail 
option will go away, there seems to be two issues at hand.

One issue revolves around making Museum-L available for those who wish to 
read the list as a newsgroup. For this purpose, I will recommend that we 
proceed ahead with the creation of a netnews gateway titled 
bit.listserv.museum-l

The second issue is the need (or perceived need) for a museum- heirarchy 
on Netnews. There have been some good discussions, but I think the 
rec.museums.xxx seems to be the most logical, although many Museum-L 
subscribers use  the list for professional development. 

Several subscribers have mentioned the problem of spamming on Netnews. 
Although I do not think this is going to be a real problem, I will keeep 
an eye on things. If there is net abuse, I will ask that the gateway be 
shutdown.

The bottom line is that I am trying to provide extra service for our 
subscribers, and the gateway seems to be the best way to go at this point.
