Based upon messages I have received from the Listserv maintainers at the University of Georgia, Harold Pritchett, and Brown University, Peter DiCamillo, the resolution to the "Hellas problem" seems to be that UGA and AUVM will close their peers. BROWNVM will continue HELLAS on condition that the list owners find a new site to host the list. The lists at UGA and AUVM are not being closed due to any person's threat of legal action, but simply because the list cannot run itself. Unlike the other outside lists that reside here, it has demanded way too much oversight on the part of our system staff. The gateway for bit.listserv.hellas has been moved to HELLAS@BROWNVM. It will be moved again when a more permanent host site is found. (I notice that Christos S. Zoulas (christos@ee.cornell.edu) has announced the creation of a HELLAS list at lut.fi, so that may be the solution.) In any case, it appears that bit.listserv.hellas will remain an active newsgroup.
