Hi!
Just a quick note about the formation of the listserv XTROPY-L
and the forthcoming linking to NEWS.

	Here's some descriptive info....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* XTROPY-L is devoted to the discussion and development of
* Extropian ideas. The term "Extropian" was coined by the journal
* "Extropy", a publication devoted to Extropian philosophy, and
* this list is a spinoff of the journal. Extropians may be roughly
* described as those simultaneously interested in anarchocapitalist
* politics, techniques of life extension (including cryonics), the
* technological extension of human intelligence and perception,
* nanotechnology, memetics, virtual reality, hypertext, agoric
* computing, spontaneous orders, and a number of other related
* ideas. If these topics seem to you to be naturally related and
* mutually consistent, you might already be an Extropian.
*
* The mailing list is mainly for the exchange of "how-to" and
* technical information about our areas of interest, not for debate
* of our basic issues. If you support natural death or state-
* sponsored anything, you will find few converts on XTROPY-L.
*
* All Extropians (and those who suspect that they are Extropians)
* are invited to join.
