This is to introduce discussion and opinions on creating a gateway for the
listserve group AUTISM@SJUVM.  

The purpose of the group is for general discussion of interests to parents,
educators, medical professionals, and Autistics as well as people with other
developemental disabilities.  We have discussions concerning Facilitated
Communication, what it means to be Autistic, Progression of Autistic Traits
and many different topics.  Our current audience is all of the people mentioned
above.  
 
The goal of this gateway is to reach those that cannot or do not wish to 
communicate with our group in it's present state due to system limitation
and make it easier for those that might prefer this format.

This is needed because no other group seems to be designed for this audience.
"misc.handicapped" does not seem to cover much in this area even with about
75 posts a day.  Yet we have already about 90 subscibers, which shows other
people are interested in this topic also and have not found any group to
meet these needs.

If you have any opinions that this group should not be created please be
sure to post here, if no oposing opinions are received within 7 days we
will seek the next step in creating the gateway.
