I can vouch for this package (even though I'm probably running an
old version - 1.19 from the alt.sources archives).  The mail2news
and news2mail programs, if configured properly (the toughest part
of the whole package, and not that difficult) do just fine for
getting both LISTSERV and unix mailing lists into our local groups.
I haven't turned one of these loose on the net yet, and I'd have
to review what listserv headers need to be re-mangled, but it's
working just fine for me, for both moderated and unmoderated lists.

What I've done for configuration is use the option to put a fixed
path-name into the header (yfnnews-gateway!do-not-reply-to-path),
feed articles directly to relaynews, and wrote a small front-end
to put Subject: headers onto posts that didn't have them, then
set up the sys-file and sendmail aliases file.
