The Mailing List KASHMIR (Kashmir Journal) is for news & info 
on region Kashmir.  It is not a political discussion forum. The
mailing list was established in June 1996. 

Daily News & Info on Kashmir region from various sources is
posted including;

	1. Voice of America (VOA)
        2. Kashmir Information Service (KRIS),
        3. Kashmir News Report (KNR) and
        4. Kashmir Times (APHC)

Precedence for setting up regional news & info forums exists;
e.g. bit.listserv.croatia.

This message is being posted per guidelines for establishing a Mailing
List/Netnews gateway. 



4.  Post to bit.admin to see if there are any objections. The subject
    of  the   posting  should   be  "Gateway  for   <listname>  under
    discussion". Explain  briefly what  the list is  for. If  you are
    proposing   that  the   list  be   gated  to   something  besides
    "bit.listserv.<listname>", this should be stated. Again, if there
    was no major  dissenting opinion within seven days,  a vote would
    not be needed; otherwise a vote would be held.
