The newgroup message for alt.language.kapampangan was posted on March 31, 1997. One booster message has also been sent since then. So far the propogation is coming along all right but of course, very slowly (typical of a new alt group, I understand). We would like to request for an assistance in setting up a gateway from the mailing list to our newsgroup. Many in our group who would like to access the newly created a.l.k. still can't see the new newsgroup on their servers. The gateway will give a.l.k. greater exposure and wider readership (which may also help for a faster propogation, given it's current status). Gateway-ing the Kapampangan mailing list to a.l.k. has been discussed amongst the subscriber of the mailing list without any dissenting opinions. The mailing list address is: KAPAMPANGAN-L@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM which is at LISTSERV@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM LIST NODE INFO: LISTSERV(R) High Performance for Windows NT version 1.8c, managed by: jeni@osf1.dc.lsoft.com Master nodes file version: 1997-04-03 12:01:50 (VERS9704) NJE peers file version: 1997-04-02 20:13:58 Internet peers file version: 1997-04-21 23:17:09 Service file version: 1997-03-02 21:17:26 (VERS9703) Running under: Windows NT 3.51 MAILING LIST OWNER INFO: * Owner= dajoncs@juno.com (Dave Nepomuceno) * Owner= Quiet: * Owner= armando@tuns.ca (Armando Regala) * Owner= enc@mudspring.uplb.edu.ph (Edwin Camaya) * Owner= davenepo@erols.com (Dave Nepomuceno) * * Kapampangan is one of the Austronesian languages * spoken in Central Luzon in the Philippines. The * 1994 World Almanac pegged the number of Kapampangan * speakers at about 2 million people. Ninoy Aquino is * probably the most famous Kapampangan in contemporary * Philippine history. Two other Kapampangans, * Diosdado Macapagal and Corazon Aquino, have given * service as President of the * Philippines. This * list serves as a forum for discussing anything * that is * related to Kapampangan language and * culture. For example, the stark similarity of * Kapampangan language and culture to that of the * Javans and Sumatrans is one area that deserves * further exploration and research so that * we can trace the ancient links between these * groups of people. I apologize for the long e-mail but if there is anything that I missed or anything we need to do further please post or e-mail reply. Thank you in advance. -- Gil Malonzo II ghilm@calweb.com http://www.balen.net
