Another Question About Gateway Service

Since it is possible to send posts uni-directionally from
the newsgroup to the listserv and the newsgroup can be
moderated, can the posts sent to the moderator be placed
directly into an archive file without first being sent to
the subscribers of the list?

If so, how do I go about becoming the moderator for the
newsgroup rec.pets.birds? What is the work load involved
in being a moderator for a fairly active group?

Just trying to please all of the people all of the time :-).

TIA,

Sure, this can be done, but does *anyone* on rec.pets.birds
want it that way?

This would involve a formal Usenet vote, which would take
at least 3 months, to make the newsgroup moderated. And
only if the newsgroup readers want it that way. I suspect
they do not want their newsgroup moderated.

A moderator reads and decides whether to post every single
article submitted to a newsgroup or mailing list. For high
volume newsgroups, this means constant attention. Many
readers expect their articles to appear within a few hours,
even on weekends. Are you prepared to respond to e-mail on
a continual basis, and find a replacement moderator if you
are away for more than a day or so?
