Greetings! I have some questions regarding bit.* hierarchy newsgroups: -- What is the procedure for splitting a group which already exists? -- What is the procedure for making an already existing un-moderated list into a moderated one? -- Are there any FAQ's or other files which outline the necessary procedures for changing bit.* newsgroups similar to the files that describe the Big 7 and the alt.* newsgroups? Thank you for any help. Zoltan

In article <30usgb$n3q@bach.seattleu.edu>, zoltan@bach.seattleu.edu (Zoltan Abraham) says: >-- What is the procedure for splitting a group which already exists? I don't know what you mean. All bit.* newsgroups (except bit.admin and bit.general) are gatewayed to mailing lists. Are you splitting a mailing list? >-- What is the procedure for making an already existing un-moderated list >into a moderated one? The list owner also controls the newsgroup. If they want to change an unmoderated newsgroup into a moderated they should send me e-mail and I will add the moderator address to the monthly post of moderators, and send out a newgroup control message for the group changing it to moderated. >-- Are there any FAQ's or other files which outline the necessary >procedures for changing bit.* newsgroups similar to the files that >describe the Big 7 and the alt.* newsgroups? Not for changing -- only for establishing.
