Hi. I co-moderate bit.listserv.devmedia. I just noticed that mail messages that go through the gateway to netnews retain the Reply-to: devmedia@uoguelph.ca header that is standard for the mailing list's messages. The problem is that when bit.listserv.devmedia subscribers try to make a personal reply to a message on the newsgroup, the mail is sent by default to the mailing list address, and, if the the subscriber is not also a mailing list subscriber, our listserv will bounce the message. Is there any way to have the gateway software convert the Reply-to: header to the same address as the From: header? In article <31mo83$67t@nermal.cs.uoguelph.ca>, kwakely@uoguelph.ca (Kent J Wakely) says: >Is there any way to have the gateway software convert the Reply-to: >header to the same address as the From: header? I remember this being discussed at one point, and then we either didn't do anything or decided there was some reason to retain the Reply-To: Does anyone remember that discussion? It would have been a year or more ago. As to having the gateway suppress the Reply-to tag, that would be easy to do on a global basis. There is no way to do it for just one mailing list. Or, as Jim suggests, does anyone remember the outcome of the old debate -- I've only been here for a few months.
