We are proposing that the mailing list "Orchid List Digest"
be gated to "rec.gardens.orchids", or at least cross posted from
the bit hierarchy. 

The Orchid List Digest is a  moderated list created to share and discuss
 information and experiences of orchid growers.  The discussions include,
 but not be restricted to:

        -Discussion of types grown
        -Cultivation techniques of certain types
        -Orchid Society events
        -Helpful orchid tips to assist growers
        -Scientific, biological issues relating to orchid growth
        -Seeding and propagating techniques
        -hybrids and hybridizing
	-Anything that would be of interest to orchid growers



rec.gardens.orchids newsgroups file contains the following description:
Growing, Hybridizing, and general care of orchids

So the two systems are closely related and would certainly gain from the
interaction. 

Any objections?

  No I am neither the moderator nor administrator of the mailing list!

  Yes we are currently putting the proposal to both the mailing list
  members and the newsgroup, and are working out the details.

  The "Gateway guidlines" suggested:
   1) get approval of list owner/admin    - we have!
   2) get approval of mailing list readers  - currently doing so!
   3) get approval of newsgroup readers    - currently doing so!
   4) post to bit admin to see if there are any objections  - that's what
this 
      thread is all about!
