I was hoping someone could tell me if there was a way to keep a periodic FAQ posting from being bounced out to a linked mail list. In part, the FAQ I'd like to place in bit.listserv.transplant will carry the introduction that would normally go to anyone who subscribed to the list. There isn't any need to have this sent to all the subscribers every month. Is there a clever fix? Mike Holloway mhollowa@epo.som.sunysb.edu

Since I think you are using a Revised LISTSERV, this advice might work: 1) list-owner changes the TRNSPLNT list headers as follows - topics= faq default-topics= all,-faq 2) list-owner issues the LISTSERV cmds - quiet set trnsplnt topics= all,-faq for *@* quiet set trnsplnt topics= all for netnews@auvm 3) distribute post FAQs with a header of - subject: faq: monthly Frequently Asked Questions the most important being the positional string /faq: / One gotcha: folks who have their distribution options set for DIGEST will receive the FAQ regardless of their topics: values. /Pete (pmw1@psuvm.psu.edu) -- co-owner LDBASE-L, TQM-L, CPARK-L, et -L -- Peter M.
