This is a request for discussion for gatewaying the mailing list T-ASSIST (@unvma.bitnet) and the USENET newsgroup SOC.COLLEGE.TEACHING-ASST. I have enclosed a small description about the mailing list. If there are no significant concerns for providing this gateway within the next 7 days, (June 1) we can go ahead and create this gateway. Thanks surendar -------- T-ASSIST mailing list: ===================== University teaching assistants have a variety of responsibilities. The purpose of this discussion group is to give teaching assistants the opportunity to discuss the roles of being a teacher and a student. Some questions to stimulate our conversation include: What kinds of teaching techniques do you use? How can you motivate students and stimulate discussion? How can you promote a supportive classroom climate? How can you set expectations for students that are high enough to challenge but not to overwhelm? How can you review for tests, write examinations and assignments and grade? How can you balance being a teacher and student?

I assume you have discussed this in soc.college.teaching-asst? I don't think
there would be any problem but there have been cases in the past where
gateways suddenly appeared without discussion and generate a fair amount of
flamage.

Yeah, I am doing that right now. I am following the Guidelines posted on creating a gateway and it requires me to get the approval of the list owner and listserver maintainer, which I had done already. Then it requires me to post to bit.admin, the mailing list and soc.college.teaching-asst, which it said can go on simultaneously. So I had posted messages to all three forums simultaneously . Thanks surendar
