I got a note in the mail today... netcom.com (a public-access system in the Bay Area) is looking for a newsfeed for bit.* via NNTP. I would offer, but right now my news-system need reconfiguration to get more inodes, and that can't be done until the other applications are moved off the box (come on Sun, ship that Sparc...) and in fact will be looking for another bit.* feed myself soon. If someone could help them out (in fact, are there volunteers to offer bit.* newsfeeds via NNTP?) drop a note to netnews@netcom.com. FYI (knowing that if you're seeing this you probably don't need a feed)... As a service to the networking community, in order to provide a wider distribution for bit.** groups, and because we are the primary gateway for bit.** and therefore it makes the most sense for us to do it, we have been providing nntp bit.** feeds to anyone who asks for one. In order to keep as much bandwidth open as possible we do not intend to provide full feeds to any additional sites, but will provide bit-only feeds upon request. If you hear of someone who needs a feed of the bit.** groups, have them write to me or to Jeff Kight (jkight@american.edu) --- Jim McIntosh (jim@american.edu) The American University Washington DC 20016-8019 USA

Since American feeds us, we're in a fairly good position to do this. -- Joseph Malcolm (Yes, with two l's, dammit!) jmalcolm@sura.net
