The popular ARPANET mailing list "info-nets@think.com" is gatewayed
into Usenet at two spots: via the bit.listserv.infonets group, and
via the "info.nets" group. I suspect quite strongly that there's
stuff being lost from one or the other group because of this.
Given how popular it is I suspect it would be quite easy to gateway
it into a mainstream group (comp.internet.info-nets? comp.mail.info-nets?)
by calling a vote question. However in the meantime it would be
most useful to consolidate the gateway at one point.

I should think that the thing to do would be to post to info-nets and say "If you read this group on Usenet, which newsgroup are you reading it in?" (and ask for the responses to be mailed back to you). If the results show no one is reading it on Usenet, then the whole question is moot. If one group or the other is more widely read, then the less widely read one should be closed while you compose your CFD on the group in the comp.** hierarchy. We don't get info.nets here (and didn't even know such a group existed) and so didn't know about the duplicate gateways. I, personally, read the info-nets traffic in the bit.listserv.infonets newsgroup. --- Jim McIntosh (jim@american.edu) The American University Washington DC 20016-8019 USA
