EUEARN-L@UBVM is now available in Usenet newsgroup bit.listserv.euearn-l. Euearn-L is a discussion list concerning computers and communications in Eastern Europe, roughly defined as any territory between the Baltic and Mediterranean Seas, east of Germany and west of Russia. It is intended to exchange information about computerization and communications links, and ease the transition of the East European states into the world web of communications. It concerns itself with all aspects of telecommunications both from a practical and a theoritical viewpoint. The EARN in the name stands for European Academic Research Network, but the list does not confine itself to academic matters. It supplements but does not replace established lists such as PLearn (Polish telecommunications); SUearn (Russian and former Soviet telecommunications) or other such limited lists. The list owner is George Frajkor at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada (gfjrakor@ccs.carleton.ca). --- Jim McIntosh (jim@american.edu) The American University Washington DC 20016-8019 USA
