A listserv to which I belong is mirrored in the bit.listserv domain. We as a group no longer wish to maintain that connection, which we voted to create a number of years ago. The mirror newsgroup's continued existence is now more of a problem than a help to the members, and apparently is no longer being read by interested persons. I hope someone here can answer my questions: 1. Is there a procedure to terminate the existence of a newsgroup? I find plenty of help for bringing a proposed new group to a vote, but nothing about how to kill an existing one! 2. Is there a way of at least disassociating the newsgroup (which would die of languishment) from the listserv mailing distribution process? Many thanks for any help! -- --- Dorothy Day School of Library and Information Science Indiana University day@indiana.edu

If you're mirrored through American.edu, you have to get the news admin there to kill the group. This may not be easy. They aren't answering e-mail lately. Here are some addresses to try: unix-admin@american.edu - Mail about the Unix servers and Listserv. news-admin@american.edu - Mail about mail2news gateways. news@news.american.edu - Mail about the news server. einfo@american.edu - Mail about the web server. postmaster@american.edu - Any E-Mail Problems. hotline@american.edu - Problems using anything else at AU. hersch@american.edu (Herschel Browne) - boss.

it is as easy as asking. i have the keys to bit.*, ergo only i can
remove them.
unix-admin@american.edu is always the best choice.
