What is the current status of the bit.* hierarchy? It has appeared to
be in disarray since Jim left.

disarray? what needs to be done? only a small number of people
have contacted me for bit changes, and those changes have been made. i am
now authoritative for the bit groups--all requests should be made to me.

Regularly post (monthly anyway) a FAQ. The post I was responding to
was the first time I remember seeing your name. [Jim had a FAQ which
should be easy to update.]

Post a checkgroup message for the bit.* hierarchy, again regularly.

please try and be honest. jim left roughly five months ago. my
predecessor, paul, left four months ago. if you have been trying to get
something fixed for eight months, then you aren't trying. i have never
heard of you, and jim & paul send me everything they get pertaining to
their old jobs.
send me your request, and i will deal with it.
