I am proposing to put CROATIAN-NEWS and HRVATSKI-VJESNIK mailing list to
this newsgroup.

CROATIAN-NEWS is a mailing list that carries daily news from and related
to Croatia in English while HRVATSKI-VJESNIK carries daily news in Croatian.

The lists are moderated.

Are there any objections that this newsgroup is created ?

Why can these news items not be placed in soc.culture.croatia?
That newsgroup appears to carry a lot of articles related to
current affairs in Croatia.

I agree. I thought about it and it would be better to name the
Croatian mailing list in English to bit.listserv.croatia and the one in
Croatian to bit.listserv.hrvatska.

Currently there are 530 subscribers on CROATIAN-NEWS and 460 on
HRVATSKI-VJESNIK. The potential subscriber base is much larger since
many Croatians do not know about existence of these mailing lists but
know how to access USENET. I feel that this would significantly improve
coverage and access. The traffic is about 70-80 kB per day for both
mailing lists.

The problem with posting to soc.culture.croatia is that this group is a
primarily discussion group about culture of Croatia and currently it is
mostly used by Serbian propagandist to spread their propaganda. That is
the reason why a lot of people are not reading it. Mostly people just
want current news from Croatia, not propaganda and nasty and rude messages.

Thanks for your reply, I hope this answers all your questions.

I wasn't clear enough, I meant 70-80 kB in total for both lists, approx.
10-20 for CROATIAN-NEWS and around 60 kB for HRVATSKI-VJESNIK.

As I said in my previous post, the group is filled with political discussions
which most of the people dislike. News articles from mailing lists are
posted occasionaly by me or by other people but it is not done on a continuous
basis which what most people want. I hope this answers you question.
