Please consider a proposal for creation of a
moderated bit.listserv.radio-l gateway for the
RADIO-L forum, an international discussion of
Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB).

The RADIO-L address is:

   RADIO-L@vm1.spcs.umn.edu (Internet)
     RADIO-L@UMINN1 (BITNET),

The RADIO-L discussion list is a moderated forum for
addressing
the issues involved in the transition to a Digital
Audio Broadcasting
(DAB) standard in countries and regions around the
world. Discussion
regarding the relative merits of various DAB proposals,
research
initiatives (consumer, economic, technical), regulatory
and policy
matters, programming initiatives, or the social and
economic
implications of a transition to DAB, is welcome and
encouraged in
this forum. Please observe courtesy when participating.

++ History of RADIO-L ++

Two lists on Digital Audio Broadcasting, RADIO-L and the
DIGITAL RADIO DISCUSSION FORUM merged into one list on
RADIO-L
in April 1995. Ron Stone established the RADIO-L
discussion in
late 1993. Ted Ledingham, of Canada's Task Force on the
Introduction of Digital Radio, established the DIGITAL
RADIO
DISCUSSION FORUM, which grew out of the Second
International
Symposium on Digital Audio Broadcasting (Toronto, March
1994).
Listowners Ted Ledingham and Ron Stone play key roles
in the
merged list.

++ Other Information ++

We do not anticipate any material changes in the
operating
structure of the list. We will agree to discontinue the
proposed gateway if the arrangement creates any major
mail
traffic problems at the list site.

The forum is moderated by Ted Ledingham,
Listowner-moderation,
(ah617@freenet.carleton.ca). Questions regarding this
proposal
should be directed to Ron Stone,
Listowner-administration,
(ston0030@gold.tc.umn.edu). The list is maintained at
St. Paul Computing Services, University of Minnesota.

Approval for these plans has been obtained from the
RADIO-L
Listowners and the local Listserv administrator.

Thanks in advance.
