I've found some files, via the L-Soft list owners discussion group, that
answered *most* of my questions about gatewaying the SOCWORK discussion
list. I do have one additional question: Is it possible to configure
the set up so that all list posts go to the newsgroup, but none of the
newsgroup posts go to the list?
Thanks.

The software allows it, but we have none set up that way. The reason is that it is not the way Usenet functions, and Usenet posters would not understand what's going on. From the point of view of the mailing list subscribers, too, it would be unfair. What you would have is two forums: the newsgroup and the mailing list. One (the newsgroup) would have all posts (both from Usenet readers and mailing list subscribers) while the mailing list would only have a subset (those posted by the mailing list subscribers). This is bound to lead to confusion. Let's say a mailing list subscriber posts a question and someone on Usenet responds with the answer. The mailing list subscriber would never see the answer, and might later post the question again. Now the Usenet reader is confused. The whole thing would be a mess. A better solution is to make the newsgroup moderated and have the address for submissions be the mailing list. Then all the posts -- regardless who from -- would arrive at one address, the mailing list address. You then have all the normal listserv owner tools to control posts in both the newsgroup and the mailing list. For example, if there is someone out of control you can "Filter" them, you can set your list to Send=Editor, or whatever. This is better since the two -- the list and the newsgroup -- are kept in sync and anyone on either platform will see all the posts, while also allowing you, the list owner, some control over what gets posted to your list/newsgroup.
