POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

modeling)
LOCATION: USDI, Geological Survey, Biological Research Division,
Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, Laurel, MD

Service, and North Carolina State University. The position will be
administered by North Carolina State University, with a duty location

diversity for the Mid-Atlantic regional assessment being completed by

extensive. Patterns of species richness, local extinction rates,
turnover, and abundance patterns of selected species will be estimated
over time within the Mid-Atlantic region. Much of this work will use
the North American Breeding Bird Survey to estimate species diversity
and abundance trends. Supplemental data sets (e.g. Natural Heritage
Program data on rare and endangered species) will also be used if

habitats will be compiled for the purposes of modeling patterns of
association
between environmental characteristics and vertebrate diversity
patterns.
