Autism Today News Magazine Goes Live!

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada How many innovations come out of somebody being
frustrated and deciding to come up with something that works better?

Well for one parent of an autistic child, it led to many innovations!
Author and speaker Karen Leigh Simmons experiences with her 10 year old son
Jonathan caused her to write a book called "Little Rainman."

When she had difficulty finding useful information on autism, she launched a
company called Exceptional Resources, Inc. (www.exceptionalresources.com) to
make autism-related books, videos and other materials more readily available
to parents and professionals.

Now she has launched an interactive online autism newsmagazine and community
called Autism Today (www.autismtoday.com) which became live on May 1, 2001.

This magazine offers:

Articles from leading experts in the field such as Dr. Temple Grandin, and
Nathan Ory, MA, Registered Psychologist
Stories, poems, music and art from people with autism, their family and
their friends
A public discussion forum where readers can share stories, ideas and talk
Polls and surveys where readers can voice their opinion
A way for authors to publish their books online
Links to a variety of autism-related resources and sites

Autism Todays approach is to combine stories, art, music and discussion
from people with autism and their families along with information from
leading medical and educational professionals in the field. The goal is to
develop a grassroots online community, resource centre and news magazine.
