ANNOUNCEMENT TO SELECTED LISTSERVS
Please cross-post as appropriate.

This is a quick reminder that ISI, the proud sponsor of The Wellspring: An
Online Community of Distance Educators, are very pleased to announce our
next Special Event on The Wellspring. This live chat session will be
hosted by Bryan Barnett, Vice President of the Paul G. Allen Virtual
Education Foundation.

The Virtual Education Foundation recently ran a contest for The Outstanding

Online Course Award. To quote from their Web page, the Award "was
conceived with two purposes in mind. First to recognize distinguished
accomplishment in the new and fast-developing world of online learning.
Second, to reveal something about the general state of current practice
among those developing the best online courses. The contest succeeded
famously on both counts." To see the winner's course ("Taming the
Electronic Frontier," created by Dr. Brad Cox of George Mason University)
go to the Foundation's Web site at http://www.paulallen.com/foundations,
where you will also find links to the best of the other 181 courses
submitted to VEF.

The live chat session featuring Bryan Barnett on the topic of "How We
Evaluate Our Online Courses of the Year" is scheduled for Tuesday,
September 22nd, from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. EDT (GMT-0500). To access the chat,

go to The Wellspring at http://wellspring.isinj.com and click on either the

hyperlink at the top of the home page or the Seminar Sessions button. You
will have to register ("Create Account"), but that only takes a second.

See you there!
