CHAIRPERSON POSITION

About the campus: Purdue University North Central is a
regional campus of Purdue University currently serving 3,400
students with a full-time faculty of 87. Situated on 281
rolling and wooded acres eight miles south of Lake Michigan
near the cities of LaPorte, Valparaiso, and Michigan City,
the campus lies 65 miles east of Chicago's vast cultural
resources and 80 miles north of the main campus of Purdue
University. Our location offers both urban and suburban
living, excellent school systems and extensive recreational
facilities.

EDUCATION SECTION CHAIRPERSON: Full-time, 12-month
appointment. Rank, salary, tenure status dependent upon
qualifications. Preferred starting date July 1, 1999.
The primary responsibility of the Education Section
Chairperson is the day-to-day operation of the section. Also
responsible for the leadership and resource management of an
elementary teacher education program taught at the
baccalaureate and master's levels. An earned doctorate in
elementary education or closely related field,
undergraduate/graduate teaching experience and excellent oral
and written communication skills in English required.
Evidence of leadership potential, professional experience in
elementary education, familiarity with NCATE standards and
NCATE approved programs, and a potential for continuing
scholarly development reflected in continuing research,
publication, or grant development also required. The review
of applications will begin on February 15, 1999 and will
continue until the position is filled.
