Post of Director of SCRE

The Scottish Council for Research in Education (SCRE) is
seeking to appoint a new Director, due to the retirement of
Professor Wynne Harlen. SCRE is an independent educational
research organisation carrying out a wide-ranging programme
of research both within and outwith Scotland. It serves
education both nationally and internationally through
conducting and disseminating research related to practice and
policy.

The Director, as Chief Executive, is responsible for ensuring
that all the functions of the Council are efficiently
discharged. The Council is seeking a Director who will lead a
successful organisation to even higher achievement. The
successful applicant will require to be a distinguished
educational researcher; to have a successful record of
winning research contracts and attracting funds; to have the
capacity to lead an able group of researchers with a full
support team; and to have the entrepreneurial flair that will
enable SCRE's services to be even more widely and
successfully marketed. Good management and leadership skills
are essential.

The salary for the post is £42,357 to £63,201.

The appointment will commence as soon as possible after 1st
April 1999.
