I have used .FLC files with no problems. However, I have come across an
interesting problem - they play slower backwards! In my module I have
simulated the rotation of a microscope section. At first I thought that a
series of images in a .FLC file would be the best way to do this as you can
have a series of variables controlling the forwards and backwards replay of
the .FLC file. This worked fine when playing the movie forwards. However, in
order to simulate a microscope stage you need to be able to "rotate" the
stage anticlockwise as well. This proved a problem. The movie did play
backwards but very slowly. I get the impression that, say, for a sequence of
12 frames, to go from frame 10 to frame 9, Aware steps through frame 11 to
12 then 1 to 9. ie. it can't physically play the movie backwards. This
doesn't cause a problem if the size of each frame is small as in the
rotating globe demo example but it is significant with larger bitmaps. I got
round the problem by using the displaydib function.
