I read and answered you other message before I saw this one. It is not necessary for you to use the VGA pallate on the APM side to convert to the APW side. Basically, once you IMPORT the image onto a display icon, it becomes a bitmapped image. This type of image will display on most windows machines (I'm assuming almost anyone will have the ability to display 16 bit images which equals thousands of colors). Our project includes over 500 digitized images so file space is a big factor for us. We have decided to do one of two things: 1. when we import into APM we are going to select the QUICKTIME JPEG COMPRESSION box (you need to try this, the option is given when you IMPORT GRAPHICS under the FILE menu). When APM starts to import, it gives you an options box where you can select from a list of options. We plan on choosing NONE on the compression and then select THOUSANDS OF COLORS. This way we get fairly high resolution and still save on the disk space. We wanted to do what Chis suggested to you, but we felt that we wanted to stay away from writing XCMDs and DLLs to call the correct color table for the picture. This doesn't mean that if someone else writes the XCMD and DLL we wouldn't be interested in it! 2. We may choose to save two different versions of the same picture one for APM (a 24 bit PICT then use JPEG compression) and one for the APW (24 bit bitmap or BMP file). This way we get the maximum resolution on both machines. Just as an aside, we are keeping all of our pictures in libraries so as to make the actual program smaller and also so that the picture libraries can be kept on servers and other hard disks. > So! How does this affect the file's journey from Photoshop to Authorware > on a Mac, to Windows, re: palatte? Experiment with the options I gave you above. Again, good luck and let me know if you discover a new and better way. John -- ******************************************************************************** John Cary Today I'm a dog.
