8 Hours ago, I sent an email to the list lamenting that Rounder, Rebel,
Pinecastle artists don't get airplay in Australia, because their record
companies don't do anything to promote their work here. My point was that
it doesn't take much effort to do business in Australia, In fact hardly
anything, but these companies aren't even doing that.

My good friend Terry Herd (bluegrassradio.com for the best bluegrass radio
show every week on the net) saw my message and passed it on to his contact
at Rounder. You can't fault Rounder's communications. Whatever else you
might think about them, you have to admire their responsiveness. I haven't
always had the answer I like from Rounder, but I've ALWAYS had a prompt
answer. And today was no exception.

Shay Quillen at Rounder slipped the message to Lee Stein, the Export
Manager at Rounder, and 40 minutes ago I had a contact with the Rounder
product manager at Shock Records, their distributor here in Australia.
Those Rounder guys are good at what they do!!

I wasn't directing my comments at independent CD producers, but I've had a
message from Linda Bolton from Northern Lights Management looking for
opportunities for the artists she manages, and there are some quite
exciting possibilities. Plus several bands have written wanting me to help
them get exposure here, which I'm delighted to do.

Just thought you'd all like to know that first of all, a lot of good people
are on the BGRASS-L, and secondly, there are lots of people who'd like to
try to bring bluegrass to the Aussie fans, given the chance, and thirdly,
Rounder are about the most responsive organisation I deal with anywhere.

OH, and I got a message from one friendly denizen of Spokane, who felt I
was having a bad week and wanted to cheer me up. Dian's worth an entire
truckload of gold!!!

I"ve always said bluegrassers are great people, and today proved it once
again.

Cheers,
Mike Kear
