I passed this on to some network support people at Chevron.
We have SNA networks where the mainframe is central and records usage
on SMF data.  For TCP/IP networks, I can't answer.  We have both
types and are moving away from the former to the later.

What type of networks are you concerned with?

        Is there anyone that has a program in place that tracks the activity
of the networks.We are looking at ways to put in place a program that can
give us any idea of network activity for a lot of networks in our environment.
