The draft RFP is now available for the portable Internet list-management
software which CREN seeks to have developed. A few issues remain to be
resolved pending further internal discussion, and the open discussion on the
list CRENLIST@BITNIC (crenlist@bitnic.educom.edu) may also suggest changes
which should be made in the RFP, so this draft should not be considered final.
It is our expectation, however, that the RFP is now stable enough for
reference by those who may wish to respond, and for general discussion to
be fruitful. All discussion should be directed to the moderated list CRENLIST,
and all interested parties should self-subscribe to that list through
LISTSERV@BITNIC (listserv@bitnic.educom.edu), following standard LISTSERV
subscription procedures.
Copies of the RFP are available from LISTSERV@BITNIC as the files
LISTMGT RFP-TXT for the plain-text version, and
LISTMGT RFP-RTF for the RTF Interchange format, which is being provided
as an experiment in the use of this format to allow Word and WordPerfect
to re-generate the fully formatted document.
Copies of the RFP are also available, via anonymous ftp or Gopher,
from the Unix machine info.cren.net, in the directory /cren-rfp, as the
files ip-listserv.txt, ip-listserv.rtf, and ip-listserv.ps, for
plain-text, RTF, and PostScript versions, respectively.
Unless there are major modifications to the document, which we do
not expect, responses are due by Wednesday, May 26. They may be sent
electronically to JBC@bitnic.educom.edu, in paper form to

or other arrangements (including electronic pickup via ftp) may be made.
The draft RFP follows.
