Subject: X Windows Access (again)

I'm not sure if this group is still being moderated, as I
haven't seen anything on it for at least 5 weeks, but here
goes anyway.
A subject that has come up several times on this group, and
to which I have still not found an answer, is can anyone
provide a list of providers of X Windows access for the
visually impaired? I'm based in the U.K., but details
about companies around the world are always useful.
I ask this, as I am desperately trying to find a suitable
enlarging system for myself; while my company rapidly
plunges into the GUI mire.
I have only seen one specific X
product so far; sold by BEAM Ltd. in Yate. It is an
enlarging X terminal, with up to 8 times magnification.
The terminal is called XVI and the company details are:
BEAM Ltd
Northavon Business Centre
Dean Road
Yate
Bristol BS17 5NH
Telephone: +44 (0)1454 324 512
E-mail: beam.demon.co.uk!sales
I was given a contact name for the AccessX group in the US -
by the Computability Centre (in Warwick). The name I was
given is Mark Novak, but I did not get any response via
e-mail. The AccessX (or DACX) group would seem to be a
very good source of information, in theory, but I need
another address
Can anyone provide me with any other contacts?
BTW my most surprising response was when I phoned Sun; that
leading name in X windows environments; and they couldn't
help me internally, and just pointed me at the
Computability Centre (which used to be a department of
IBM). That's put Sun well down in my esteem!

Subject: Scanning Spanish text and importing it into WordPerfect
From: patt@squid.tram.com (Patt Bromberger)
We are using Xerox Technology's Reading Edge with the Spanish Module to
read Spanish text; we'd like to import the Spanish text into WordPerfect;
is anyone aware of other soft/hardware we would need in order to be able
to do that? Yes, the Reading Edge reads the Spanish aloud but we would
like to be able to import the Spanish text into WordPerfect so that a
blind student could take a Spanish exam and then print out the text to be
handed to the professor.
All comments, suggestions and leads appreciated.
Thanks.

Can anyone give me sources for talking books (ie tape-recorded novels,
non-fiction, magazines, newspapers etc) in Russian please?
Sources can be loan or purchase, those in the UK would be of especial interest.
Thanks in anticipation.

This camp is run by the Rose Resnick Lighthouse in San Francisco.
Their phone number is (415) 431-1481. I've heard tons of great
feedback on it from Arkenstone employees (blind and sighted).

Subject: Library for the Blind in Israel
From: s.farwaneh@m.cc.utah.edu (s farwaneh)
Does anyone know the telephone number or e-mail address of the Library
for the Blind in Israel? I had the number once but I seem to have lost
it. I understand that they have available a braille Hebrew-English
dictionary which I need.
Also, does anyone know of sources of Hebrew materials here in the US?
Thanks for your help.
