Sometime before this last media blitz, CD-I became CD-i. So, with respect,
we should all call it CD-i and not CD-I. For those with uppercase only
terminals, please feel free to be very confused. ;)
Well, Digital Video has hit. Reports on GEnie talk of it being blocky and
not on par with VHS, but I am waiting for more reports. (The video seen was
Star Trek 6).
The viewer did correctly describe an effect which would match how MPEG
works, but everything I have seen in print says the DV (digital video) is
supposed to be better than VHS...so.
Now, Paramount has a contract to bring out 50 movies for CD-i over the next
two years, and the video magazines I get (retail insider mags, not consumer
mags) say they are considering doing more titles. Who knows! Maybe DV is
going to be a big push for CD-i!
