Paul J, and all,
    I did as asked and wrote a msg to Delphi regarding ftp binary sends.
(Indeed, look at the subject on this msg, and it says ftp sends.)  Anyways,
I just got a response back from Delphi, but it seems they are talking about
sending binaries though internet mail... not ftp binary sends (uploads).
Tell me if I'm reading it wrong...

Thanks for writing. If you're having trouble sending a binary file over
the Internet, your file probably has some non-printing characters in it.
Internet mail only transfers standard ASCII characters, so it encodes
the file if it discovers special control characters, characters with
accents on them, special symbols like line-drawing characters or
paragraph marks, or if line noise has corrupted the file during
transfer. This will cause the file to appear corrupted, or make it
impossible for you to open the file at all.

The best way to solve this problem is to get Base64 encoding and
decoding programs like uuencode and uudecode. When you pass the file
through such a program, it automatically translates it to and from
ASCII. If you and your friend both have these programs, you should be
able to exchange binary files without problems. Check the Internet SIG
for more information and to download encoders and decoders.
